FAQs

  • Almost endless! The most noticeable is how much more balanced you feel standing and walking. This means your body is in alignment and as a result, you’ll move more efficiently AND all your bodily systems function more effectively. It blows people’s minds!

  • Wouldn’t that be wonderful? No, you can’t. At least not for very long. We’re (re)training and strengthening your muscles (muscles move bones) to ‘hold’ your body in a correct and functional position. So over time, you won’t feel the need to ‘hold on’. It will be natural for all your movements.

  • I prefer to create efficient and effective routines that are between 1-4 exercises. And depending on the exercises, could take up to 15 minutes with an average of 10 minutes per complete routine.

  • Great question! It’s best we devote a min. of 60 minutes per session, up to 90 mins at times. So, sessions may be longer at no extra cost to you. We’ll be discussing your routine/s, the impact they’re having for you and I’ll often want to watch you doing them, so I can correct any form issues. It is VITAL that they are done correctly.

  • At least once-twice a day. Every day. And a question I ask everyone is ‘how good do you really want to feel’? If your answer is ‘fantastic’ or as ‘good as I can’ then I strongly recommend doing your routine two to three times a day. Remember, you are likely only spending 5-10 minutes at a time on your exercises. The day is 24 hours!

  • If you’re in Adelaide (Australia), then the ideal is for us to meet in person - you come to me. However a lot of Posture Therapy work is done online now using zoom or Google Meet. So whether you’re in Timbuktu or in Adelaide or anywhere else, we can effectively work together. We’ll determine this during our initial chat.

  • Yes to the first question and No to the second. I invite you to check in whenever you need to. You can call or email with any questions related to your routine/s. And I’ll get back to you as soon as I possibly can. No extra charges!

  • Nothing special. There will likely be exercises that require use of small yoga blocks and/or a yoga strap. If you don’t have these, they can be found cheaply in sporting goods stores and even department stores. And they’re light and easily carried when you’re travelling. We’ll talk about this in our initial chat.

  • It depends on the option you choose. A single session will focus on 1 x routine, ensuring it is specific to you and your needs. Remember, the most important thing is for us to ensure you are correctly performing each of your exercises and that’s takes quite a bit of the time in a session.

  • No. If you want fewer sessions then purchasing individual sessions is the best way to proceed. The reason I and most other Posture Therapists offer the 8 session package as a minimum is to ensure you have ‘embedded’ your routines as part of your everyday; that you are doing the exercises correctly and that they are making the difference you want and need. This takes time, it is a process. And if at any time something isn’t having the desired affect, we still have time to change it and practice it. AND, you get all the ‘in between’ contact with me too. There’s a certain genius to having the 8 sessions.

  • No! They enhance your workouts and physical therapy. Due to their genius of realigning your body, they are by design positively affecting whatever else you are doing. You are then taking an aligned body into your workouts and to your physical therapy session. We don’t want you to stop doing what you’re already doing if you feel it is working for you.

  • This is when we get together to chat about your needs, wants and goals. And you’ll find out how Postural Corrective Exercises can help you with this. We may do a little bit of functional testing to give you some kinesthetic awareness (basically your awareness of how you move and where your body is in space) of where your weight/balance is in your body when you’re standing and walking. We might even take some photos if we have time and I can get to work on assessing your posture and creating a routine for you. It depends on whether we’re together in person, on zoom or just having a phone chat. You can then decide if you’d like to proceed with one or more sessions. There’s no catch.

  • Not at all! you can be anywhere in the world thanks to zoom and Google meet. In fact, Posture Therapy was being conducted online BEFORE either of these tools was created. However, if you can get to me in central Adelaide (or perhaps I can get to you!), that is equally as good and sometimes, better. We’ll discuss this during our initial chat.

  • It’s perfect for you! And congratulations to you! It is a rare woman who’s body, specifically their pelvis, has not been impacted from an alignment perspective during pregnancy and child birth. This in turn affects the muscles and joints above and below the hips (ankles, knees, shoulders) because, our body works as one unit, not as parts. So there are numerous ways we can work together, creating routines to assist you with your pregnancy and labour and postpartum. You will not only feel better physically, you’ll gain a massive self confidence boost too. And the sooner we get on to it, the better for you. Yes, it is perfectly safe!

  • Well it’s really on a case by case basis as no two surgeries are ever the same. That said, Postural Corrective Exercise can be started - or continued, if you were already doing them -basically immediately after, with all due consideration to the site of the surgery. In other words, we avoid the area for a while and find positions of comfort for you to conduct your exercises.
